The list of available TV windows are based on media websites, TV listings and press releases. There were a fair number of alterations to this particular week on the way in and they can change based on the needs of the broadcaster or the conference.
Here's what I guessed based on the available openings (they'll be wrong & most people don't give me grief over that) and here is the current schedule for the week as several FBS games do have their time & television/webcast assignments already accounted for.This is the final 12 day post for the season. If there's enough games held for six day holds, I'll probably do one for those too, but I hope that as many start times are set for the games as possible. Its a bit of an inconvenience to have a bunch of games held for start times when some fans & students could be travelling, but TV pays the schools' bills.

CBS should really try to schedule a doubleheader for Rivalry Week and not the week before Rivalry Week when they know most of the SEC schools play Mercer and Louisiana Monroe. The noon CBS game is Mississippi State-Arkansas? No thanks! If they had the double header on November 25, they could have Clemson-South Carolina, Florida State-Florida (bad this year but good if those programs get back), Louisville-Kentucky, Texas A&M-LSU, or the Egg Bowl in addition to the Iron Bowl. Anything better than the dud Mississippi State-Arkansas this week. Now next year they can't get the games hosted by ACC schools but Georgia Tech-Georgia would be a possibility (maybe they are going for an unbeaten season).
ReplyDeleteI think I mentioned it last week, CBS is allowed one prime time a year but they have to pick it before the season. How about next year they just pick the prime time November 24 instead of November 3 and save it for the Iron Bowl? I'm kind of sick of it always being Alabama-LSU and had it been Alabama-Auburn in prime time this year the ratings would have gone through the roof. Or are they contractually obligated by the SEC to always have it be Alabama-LSU? It seems coincidental it is always them in prime time.
I read Notre Dame and USC are locked into rivalry week until 2022 in even numbered years (thanks USC AD Pat Haden!) I couldn't find whether Stanford is or not. Hopefully they can grow balls and stand up to Notre Dame and say they will play Cal every Thanksgiving weekend every year from now on like they should.

ReplyDeleteCare to do updated guessed for the ABC and FOX games for 11/25 with the six day hold info? I think the top candidates for the prime time ABC game are Notre Dame-Stanford, the Apple Cup (Wazzu-Washington), and West Virginia-Oklahoma. ABC has only featured Baker Mayfield in prime time once and it was World Series week and split coverage. One Pac-12 game winds up on FOX at 8pm. I would guess the other game between the Pac-12 and WV-Okl is 3:30pm/3:45pm. I think Ga-GaT is ABC at noon, I don't see why that would be prime time. The Big Ten might get the ABC 3:30pm slot depending on what happens in the Pac-12. If Wisconsin is still unbeaten they have a good chance at being on ABC and bumping the Pac-12 to ESPN.
Barring Alabama or Auburn losing to one of the Little Sisters of the Poor, I would expect College Gameday to be in Auburn next Saturday. If ABC's Primetime Game is at Stanford or Washington next Saturday , either Kirk's going to have a long flight or they could have him call Clemson/South Carolina on ESPN instead which I think he did when the ABC prime time game was at USC and Gameday was at James Madison this year.
