CFB TV Guesses for 2024 Week 6 (10/5/24)

Here are the games already set for television and/or webcast. Here are the known available telecast windows.

I have done my best to list what TV windows are out there. Every listing service has a little different schedule for these networks. It is also possible that a window could be eliminated or the time of a window could shift slightly to accommodate a network's needs.

Instead of cluttering up these posts even more, I'll try to keep track of the unique conference TV arrangements in a separate post.

A few notes and considerations:
  • Games already set for time or TV network family, but not both:
    • Missouri at Texas A&M (12pm, ABC or ESPN)
    • Utah State at Boise State (TBA, FOX Sports)
    • Rutgers at Nebraska (12pm or mid-afternoon, TBA)
  • SEC TV window slotting:
    • Early afternoon
      • Missouri at Texas A&M
    • Mid-afternoon
      • Alabama at Vanderbilt
    • Evening
      • UCF at Florida
    • Flex between mid-afternoon or evening
      • Tennessee at Arkansas
      • Auburn at Georgia
      • Ole Miss at South Carolina
* FOX does not have a mid-afternoon game due to MLB postseason.  They will have an 11pm window and I think it will get used for the Big 12 and not the Big Ten as there's only one Big Ten game it could be used for (Michigan at Washington) and I suspect that this game is chosen earlier than FOX will be able to claim it.
* BTN will have a tripleheader.
* CBSSN has a 12pm window for the MAC.
* Besides the mid-afternoon MLB window for FOX, FS1 will also be missing a window and it appears it is at 7:30pm ET where a FS2 window exists.
* I gave NBC the top Big Ten choice and ESPN the top Big 12 choice.

12pm ABC: Missouri at Texas A&M
12pm FOX: UCLA at Penn State
12pm ESPN: Clemson at Florida State
12pm ESPN2: West Virginia at Oklahoma State
12pm CW: Wake Forest at NC State
12pm BTN: Rutgers at Nebraska
12pm ESPNU: Old Dominion at Coastal Carolina
12pm CBSSN: UMass at Northern Illinois
12pm ACCN: Boston College at Virginia
3:30pm ABC: Tennessee at Arkansas
3:30pm CBS: Iowa at Ohio State
3:30pm ESPN: Alabama at Vanderbilt
3:30pm ESPN2: SMU at Louisville
3:30pm FS1: Indiana at Northwestern
3:30pm BTN: Purdue at Wisconsin
3:30pm ESPNU: James Madison at ULM
3:30pm ACCN: Pitt at North Carolina
4:15pm SECN: Ole Miss at South Carolina
7pm ESPN: Miami (FL) at California
7pm ESPN2: Army West Point at Tulsa
7pm ESPNU: Miami (OH) at Toledo

Six day selection guesses for 9/28/24

September isn't an early month to have a six day hold, but its a bit more unusual to have this many games being held up.  Some were given a small range of start times, which should affect the TV windows.

I'm only going to go through the windows that would be affected by the Big 12, Big Ten, Mountain West and SEC.

I do think FOX and CBS will flip their TV windows for the Big Ten.  I'm told Rick Neuheisel might have let that be known on Sirius XM today. Also think that Fresno State at UNLV will get downgraded to FS2 and that the 8pm ESPN2 window gets deleted in favor of a Pat McAfee alternate presentation of Georgia-Alabama.

12pm ABC: Kentucky at Ole Miss
12pm CBS: Nebraska at Purdue
12pm FOX: Colorado at UCF
12pm ESPN: Oklahoma State at Kansas State
12pm FS1: Cincinnati at Texas Tech
12pm Peacock: Minnesota at Michigan
3:30pm ABC: Mississippi State at Texas
3:30pm FOX: Wisconsin at USC
3:30pm ESPN: Oklahoma at Auburn
3:30pm FS1: BYU at Baylor
3:30pm FS2: Fresno State at UNLV
4:15pm SECN: Arkansas vs. Texas A&M
7pm FS1: Iowa State at Houston
7:30pm NBC: Illinois at Penn State
10pm FOX: Oregon at UCLA
10pm FS1: Washington State at Boise State

ESPN+: TCU at Kansas

CFB TV Guesses for 2024 Week 5 (9/28/24)

Here are the games already set for television and/or webcast. Here are the known available telecast windows.

I have done my best to list what TV windows are out there. Every listing service has a little different schedule for these networks. It is also possible that a window could be eliminated or the time of a window could shift slightly to accommodate a network's needs.

Instead of cluttering up these posts even more, I'll try to keep track of the unique conference TV arrangements in a separate post.

A few notes and considerations:
  • Games already set for time or TV network family, but not both:
    • Kentucky at Ole Miss (ABC or ESPN, 12pm)
    • Washington State at Boise State (FOX Sports, TBA)
    • Nebraska at Purdue (TBA, 12pm)
    • Illinois at Penn State (TBA, 3:30pm/4pm or 7:30pm)
    • North Carolina Central vs. Norfolk State (ESPN Networks, 3pm)
  • SEC game slotting is as follows:
    • Noon for ABC or ESPN: Kentucky at Ole Miss
    • Afternoon or evening:
      • Oklahoma at Auburn
      • Mississippi State at Texas
      • Arkansas vs. Texas A&M
* ABC has already set their primetime game with Georgia at Alabama.  In addition to that, SEC Network already has its evening window set and will not have a early game.
* FOX is scheduled to have a late evening game, presumably for the Big Ten.
* CBSSN will have a MAC selection.
* The Peacock app appears to show two separate Big Ten exclusives.  One at 12pm and one at 7pm ET.  This is in addition to NBC's 7:30pm window.
* BTN appears to only have a 12pm window.
* FS1 has a 9:45pm window which strongly indicates where Washington State at Boise State will be placed.
* CBS affiliates were made aware that their Big Ten 3:30pm window could switch to 12pm depending on a six day hold used by another network. I assume that network is FOX the two networks would swap.
* NBC let the cat our of the bag in a now removed portion of their weekly press release that they would be carrying Nebraska at Purdue.
* I think there's a chance that a Big 12 six day hold will be used between some combination of Colorado at UCF, Oklahoma State at Kansas State & Arizona at Utah.  I have ABC/ESPN making the decision.  Whatever is chosen likely impacts where Kentucky at Ole Miss ends up

12pm ABC: Kentucky at Ole Miss

Potential MBK games being set for TV for November 2024

ESPN put out their advance listings for November at their Watch website and the month has some men's college basketball listed under the guise of the conference of the home team instead of the actual game.  So what games could they be?

Note that plenty of games involving exempt events like the Battle 4 Atlantis, Maui Invitational, etc. will be played this month, so these are the "hosted" games.

All times Eastern

ESPN
11/10 5pm: Arizona State at Gonzaga

ESPN2
11/8 7pm: North Carolina at Kansas
11/14 7pm: LSU at Kansas State
11/22 10:30pm: Duke at Arizona
11/23 12:30am: North Carolina at Hawai'i

A second Big 12 game for 11/14 at 9pm on ESPN2 is also listed but its confirmed to be the Grand Canyon vs. Arizona State game as part of the Hall of Fame Series.

ESPNU
11/9 7:30pm: Arkansas vs. Baylor
11/9 9:30pm: Bucknell at Kentucky

I don't know if the 45 minute difference between the SECN window and the other two constitutes a hold being used.  All three are in mid-afternoon windows.  I assume it doesn't.

CFB TV Guesses for 2024 Week 4 (9/21/24)

I have done my best to list what TV windows are out there. Every listing service has a little different schedule for these networks. It is also possible that a window could be eliminated or the time of a window could shift slightly to accommodate a network's needs.

Instead of cluttering up these posts even more, I'll try to keep track of the unique conference TV arrangements in a separate post.

A few notes and considerations:
  • Games already set for time or TV network family, but not both:
    • Florida at Mississippi State (ABC or ESPN, 12pm)
    • North Carolina A&T at North Carolina Central (ESPN Networks, 7pm)
  • SEC game slotting is as follows:
    • Noon for ABC or ESPN: Florida at Mississippi State
    • Afternoon or evening:
      • Arkansas at Auburn
      • UCLA at LSU
      • Vanderbilt at Missouri
      • Tennessee at Oklahoma
    • Evening only: Akron at South Carolina
* I went with Miami (FL) at South Florida at noon on ABC to help fill requirements the American has for games on ABC, pushing Florida at Mississippi State to ESPN.
* For the Big Ten, USC at Michigan was chosen by CBS in advance of the season, which indicates that this game was the top choice of the conference this week.  After that, I placed Marshall at Ohio State on FOX and Iowa at Minnesota on NBC in that order.
* With the Big 12, I placed Utah at Oklahoma State on FOX as the conference's top choice this week, followed by Baylor at Colorado on ESPN in the late evening.  I'm assuming the latest a Big 12 game can start on TV remains 8:15pm local, which would be acceptable for Baylor at Colorado.
* Not pictured here is that Portland State at Boise State will start at 9:45pm ET on FS1. With a 7pm FS1 window, viewers should expect to see the game on FS2 to start.

12pm ABC: Miami (FL) at South Florida
12pm FOX: Marshall at Ohio State
12pm ESPN: Florida at Mississippi State
12pm ESPN2: Michigan State at Boston College
