CFB TV Confirmations for 2024 Week 11 (11/5/24 - 11/9/24)

This post will be updated as announcements come out for start times for Week 11 (11/5/24 - 11/9/24) from the (mostly) twelve day selection process that most TV networks adhere to. Most conferences have the possibility of having all or part of their scheduled games held for a six day hold for the start time and/or the TV network. The list of available TV windows are based on media websites, TV listings and press releases. They can change based on the needs of the broadcaster or the conference.

Here's what I guessed based on the available openings (they will prove to be incorrect), along with the games that have already been set

ACC: CW at 12pm and ACCN at 3:30pm and 8pm are guaranteed. ESPN (12pm or 3:30pm) and ESPN2 (7pm) are possibilities

Big Ten: NBC at 12pm (yes, you read that correctly), CBS at 3:30pm, FOX at 8pm are confirmed. It appears that there's also a Peacock option.  Washington at Penn State will not air at noon, so it does not appear to be an option for NBC.

Big 12: ESPN will take one game for either ESPN (12pm or 3:30pm) or ESPN2 (7pm).  FOX Sports will have three games to show across two FOX openings (12pm & 4pm) and two FS1 openings (3:30pm & 7pm)

SEC: One game will air at 7pm ESPN and the other at 7:45pm on SECN

Nevada at Boise State: Will be slotted in to whichever FOX Sports option not used by the Big 12.

CFB TV Guesses for 2024 Week 10 (11/5/24 - 11/9/24)

Here are the games already set for television and/or webcast. Here are the known available telecast windows.

I have done my best to list what TV windows are out there. Every listing service has a little different schedule for these networks. It is also possible that a window could be eliminated or the time of a window could shift slightly to accommodate a network's needs.

Instead of cluttering up these posts even more, I'll try to keep track of the unique conference TV arrangements in a separate post.

A few notes and considerations:

  • Games set for time or TV, but not both
    • Fresno State at Air Force (TBA, FOX Sports)
    • Nevada at Boise State (TBA, FOX Sports)
    • Florida at Texas (12pm, ABC or ESPN)
    • Informally, Washington at Penn State has been given guidance that their "White Out" game will not be in the noon ET slot.
  • SEC game slotting
    • Early: Florida at Texas
    • Afternoon: South Carolina at Vanderbilt
    • Evening: Mississippi State at Tennessee
    • All others can air in the afternoon or evening
  • It appears that NBC's Big Ten telecast window will be at 12pm ET, which might mean that they've swapped times with FOX.
  • Neither ACC Network nor SEC Network have a telecast window at noon
  • ESPNU will have men's college basketball in primetime and will not have CFB this evening.
  • I gave NBC top choice in the noon slot for the Big Ten, followed by FOX and CBS, and the top Big 12 choice with FOX.
  • A story came out this week that Kansas would request that they play their game vs. Iowa State as early in the day as possible due to the turnaround for the Chiefs game on Sunday at 1pm ET.
  • BTN doesn't have a window listed, and I've been fooled by that before.  I think it is possible that they'll have one at noon ET.  If that's the case, delete FS1's 10:15pm ET window and move Maryland at Oregon to CBS, then move Purdue at Ohio State to BTN at 12pm.  Purdue at Ohio State might be a bloodbath for CBS.  I hear you.
  • I put Nevada at Boise State in the noon ET window on FOX.  Figured this was a good time to showcase Heisman hopeful Ashton Jeanty.  Boise State has had noon ET / 10am local starts on FS1 and CBS before (the CBS game was a Black Friday game and they will this coming Black Friday on FOX), and the Broncos were expected to host Florida State at noon on FOX in 2020 before that season was altered.
Tuesday
7:30pm ESPN2: Miami (OH) at Ball State

Wednesday
7pm ESPN2: Northern Illinois at Western Michigan

Instead of cluttering up these posts even more, I'll try to keep track of the unique conference TV arrangements in a separate post.

A few notes and considerations:
  • Games set for TV family or start time, but not both
    • USC at Washington: Mid-afternoon or 7:30pm ET
  • SEC game time slotting
    • Early: Ole Miss at Arkansas & Vanderbilt at Auburn
    • Night: Kentucky at Tennessee & Texas A&M at South Carolina
  • ABC's 3:30pm game has been already slotted (Florida vs. Georgia)
  • My understanding is that FOX Sports has a FOX/FS1 option in the late evening in the event of a World Series game this evening.
  • ESPN does not have a late evening window planned.
  • FOX Sports has the top choice this weekend in the Big Ten. I slotted CBS second followed by  NBC.
  • I'm aware that NBC's preferred lineup suggests that USC at Washington would be the NBC game, but I don't think its the 3rd best game available anymore. I would have chosen Indiana at Michigan State, but it appears that the Spartans have been assured they'll have no more night games at home as part of the 12 day selection process.
  • I gave ESPN the top Big 12 choice.
  • The slate feels kinda light.  I think I would have dropped the noon ACCN window.
12pm ABC: Texas Tech at Iowa State
12pm FOX: Ohio State at Penn State
12pm ESPN: Ole Miss at Arkansas
12pm ESPN2: ULM at Marshall
12pm CW: North Carolina at Florida State

    • Alabama A&M vs. Alabama State (3:30pm, ESPN Nets or ESPN+)
    • One of three MEAC games could be aired live on ESPNU
  • SEC games locked to specific time slots
    • Early: Oklahoma at Ole Miss & Arkansas at Mississippi State
    • Afternoon: Texas at Vanderbilt
    • Evening: Auburn at Kentucky
    • All others are flexible to afternoon or evening
  • I gave CBS the top choice for the Big Ten, followed by FOX and NBC in that order.  For the Big 12, I assume FOX is picking first after Cincinnati at Colorado was chosen by ESPN.
  • There was an ACC CW window initially at noon ET.  It has disappeared from listings, but I don't think the network is going to go dark from the conference two consecutive Saturdays, so I'm keeping it around.
  • FS1 has NASCAR Trucks at noon ET.
  • FOX does not have a nighttime window due to the World Series.
  • Almost all of the BTN game choices are based on whether it was more or less likely for a schools to be able to fill its conference game requirement.

CFB TV Guesses for 2024 Week 8 (10/19/24)

Here are the games already set for television and/or webcast. Here are the known available telecast windows.

I have done my best to list what TV windows are out there. Every listing service has a little different schedule for these networks. It is also possible that a window could be eliminated or the time of a window could shift slightly to accommodate a network's needs.

Instead of cluttering up these posts even more, I'll try to keep track of the unique conference TV arrangements in a separate post.

A few notes and considerations:
    • Games set for time, timeslots or TV, but not both
      • UCLA at Rutgers (TBA, 12pm or mid-afternoon)
      • Nebraska at Indiana, USC at Maryland and Iowa at Michigan State have full flexibility
      • Notre Dame vs. Georgia Tech (TBA, ABC/ESPN nets)
      • South Dakota State at North Dakota State (TBA, ESPN nets)
      • East Carolina at Army West Point (TBA, ABC/ESPN nets)
      • UNLV at Oregon State (3:30pm or 10:30pm, CW)
      • Hawai'i at Washington State (3:30pm or 10:30pm, CW)
      • Florida A&M at Jackson State (3;30pm, ESPN Nets or ESPN+)
      • Alcorn State at Southern (7pm, ESPN Nets or ESPN+)
    • SEC time slots for games
      • Early
        • South Carolina at Oklahoma
        • Auburn at Missouri
      • Night
        • LSU at Arkansas
      • All other SEC games are flexible between mid-afternoon and evening
    • Losses by Alabama and Tennessee made it a bit easier to discern whether Alabama-Tennessee or Georgia-Texas would be in primetime.
    • East Carolina at Army West Point is a game I'd consider for the noon ABC slot due the need to put an AAC game on ABC (Notre Dame vs. Navy will get that consideration as well) but I think Virginia at Clemson jumps them, along with Notre Dame vs. Georgia Tech.  ESPN loves to put ND on ABC when they can.
    • CW has two slots to place their Pac-12 games.  I'm making the assumption that the "better" game will air early.
    • Speaking of the CW, since their game is at noon ET, their choice of game is limited as they can't carry NC State at California or SMU at Stanford.  Since ESPN also confirmed that they would carry Notre Dame vs. Georgia Tech, the CW will have Virginia at Clemson or Miami (FL) at Louisville fall in their lap.
    • I had FOX choosing first this week, followed by CBS then NBC, for the Big Ten.  For the Big 12, I had ESPN choosing first.
Edit: I initially had Miami-Louisville on the CW, but it appears that they will not be carrying an ACC game on 10/19.
