CFB TV Guesses for 2023 Week 11 (11/7/23-11/11/23)

Here are the games already set for television and/or webcast. Here are the known available telecast windows. 

I have done my best to list what TV windows are out there. Every listing service has a little different schedule for these networks. It is also possible that a window could be eliminated or the time of a window could shift slightly to accommodate a network's needs.

Instead of cluttering up these posts even more, I'll try to keep track of the unique conference TV arrangements in a separate post.  

A few notes and considerations:

* The following games are set for a particular time or TV network family, but not both:

• Washington State at California (ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU)
• Pitt vs. Syracuse (3:30pm)
• New Mexico at Boise State (FOX, FS1, FS2)
• Yale at Princeton (ESPN Networks)

* NBC has a Big Ten doubleheader with games at 3:30pm and 7:30pm, plus a Peacock exclusive at 12pm.  Their primetime game has already been set though.

* Yes, I know the Georgia sixth game exception is out there.  I'm not electing to use it here because I do have a decent option in Florida at LSU.

* FOX has a quadruple header, but has already selected their noon game.

* The FS1 window set for 9:45pm ET seems to be telegraphing that the New Mexico at Boise State game will air there.  MW games on FOX Sports must be slotted to start at 7:45pm local time at the latest.

* Colorado needs one more Pac-12 game and this is the place to do it in my opinion.

* With Liberty at 8-0, I thought this was a good chance to showcase them on a Saturday even if its just on ESPNU.

* With both Duke and North Carolina losing on Saturday, I struggled a bit to find a 3rd ABC worth game.  Since we're in six day pick season, might see one more used on the ACC and Big 12.  Would be the last they can use on ACC as it would be number 4.

Six Day Guesses for 11/4/23

Quick set of guesses based on openings and the slots to fill for 11/4.  Remember that the 7pm game for FOX Sports is scheduled for FS1 unless there's no need for a World Series Game 7, when it would get elevated to FOX.

As of this writing, I am assuming a Texas win over BYU and an Oklahoma State win over Cincinnati.

I assumed that the Big 12 selection order was the following: FOX (12pm), ABC/ESPN (3:30pm), ESPN (7pm), FOX/FS1 (7pm), ESPN2.  

I think there's a case to be made that FOX will take Oklahoma-Oklahoma State ahead of Kansas State Texas even with Oklahoma losing today to Kansas.  This would be the last instance of Bedlam until/unless the two Oklahoma schools agree on a way to continue the series.

CFB TV Confirmations for 2023 Week 10 (10/31/23-11/4/23)

This post will be updated as announcements come out for start times for Week 10 (10/31/23-11/4/23) from the (mostly) twelve day selection process that most TV networks adhere to. Most conferences have the possibility of having all or part of their scheduled games held for a six day hold for the start time and/or the TV network. The list of available TV windows are based on media websites, TV listings and press releases. They can change based on the needs of the broadcaster or the conference.

Here's what I guessed based on the available openings (they will prove to be incorrect), along with the games that have already been set.

• Notre Dame at Clemson (ABC)

* CBS has a noon Big Ten selection along with their primetime SEC doubleheader.  CBS gets the top two SEC choices for the week.  Both SEC windows for CBS are exclusive, meaning that all SEC games on ESPN/2/U must air at 12pm.

* At the moment, I'm assuming CBS is not using a 6th appearance exception for Georgia.  If they want to air the Georgia-Tennessee game on 11/18 or Ole Miss-Georgia on 11/11, they'll need to use one of their exceptions to air six games from a school.  My understanding is they have four of the six appearance exceptions to use for the 15 year contract.  By my count, they've used the exception once in the previous 14 seasons (2009 Florida) so it should be available to use again.

* In terms of top selections for conferences who split their rights between multiple networks, I gave CBS top Big Ten choice along with their weekly top choice in the SEC. Top Pac-12 choice went to ABC/ESPN and top Big 12 choice went to FOX.

* FOX Sports' primetime choices may end up being able to be elevated from their pay TV platforms up one level depending on the need for Game 7 of the World Series.  I have set it up that way.  Same with the FS2 window at for 7pm ET.  I'm assuming it could be on FS1 or FS2 and moved it to 8pm.  FS1 may schedule a late evening window, but I'm assuming that it won't exist due to the flexibility needed.

* The MEAC has the possibility of a ESPNU game at either 12pm or 3:30pm ET.

* The following games have been set for a time slot, a time slot range or with a specific TV partner:

• Purdue at Nebraska (12pm, 3:30pm or 4pm)

* CBS has no selection from the SEC as they preselected their game.  Their 12pm window is for the Big Ten.

* FOX has no primetime window due to the World Series.

* FS2 has a 5:30pm window listed, but the time for these windows can change.

* NFL Network has a 7pm window.

* CBSSN has a MAC selection at 3:30pm

* A SWAC game on ESPNU seems likely.  Two games were set aside this week with the designation of TBD instead of ESPN+.  When this occurred a few weeks back, a game was set for ESPNU.  Those games are:

* Two MEAC games are also being held for an ESPNU wildcard.

• Howard at Delaware State

* NBC has one of their two Big Ten doubleheaders.

* FS1 has NASCAR Trucks in the early afternoon instead of a CFB game.

* NFL Network is back in the picture with an ESPN G5 sublicense at 7pm.

* CBSSN once again has a 12pm MAC selection.

* An FS2 window has been listed for 8:30pm ET

* A bonus set of selections exists for the Thursday night games on ESPN & ESPN2, plus the two AAC games moving to Friday 11/24 for TV. 

* I'm very aware that strong hints have been provided by both NBC and FOX to their selections on 10/21.

* Ended up dropping an ACC Network window at 12pm to fill the main ESPN linear slots.

* I moved up the late FS1 window to 10:15pm for BYU to host.

* For those curious, I gave FOX the top choice across all three conferences they share rights with ESPN (Big Ten, Big 12 and Pac-12)

CFB TV Confirmations for 2023 Week 7

This post will be updated as announcements come out for start times for 10/14/23 from the (mostly) twelve day selection process that most TV networks adhere to. Most conferences have the possibility of having all or part of their scheduled games held for a six day hold for the start time and/or the TV network. The list of available TV windows are based on media websites, TV listings and press releases. They can change based on the needs of the broadcaster or the conference.

Here's what I guessed based on the available openings (they will prove to be incorrect), along with the games that have already been set. 

There's also a handful of rules that both conferences and TV networks have put into their agreements which affect these selections, which are updated weekly and can be found here.

CFB TV Guesses for 2023 Week 7 (10/14/23)

Here are the games already set for television and/or webcast. Here are the known available telecast windows. 

I have done my best to list what TV windows are out there. Every listing service has a little different schedule for these networks. It is also possible that a window could be eliminated or the time of a window could shift slightly to accommodate a network's needs.

Instead of cluttering up these posts even more, I'll try to keep track of the unique conference TV arrangements in a separate post.  

A few notes and considerations:

* Several games have either had their start time range locked in or were selected in advance by a network family, but without a game time set:

• Michigan State at Rutgers (12pm)
• Illinois at Maryland (12pm, 3:30pm or 4pm)
• UMass at Penn State (3:30pm)
• Boise State at Colorado State (FOX Sports)

* CBS has a SEC doubleheader at 12pm & 3:30pm.  The 3:30pm game is the top choice for the conference, but ESPN gets a pair of selections before CBS chooses their 12pm game.

* NBC's Big Ten night game moves up to 3:30pm again due to a Notre Dame night game.  They also have a noon Peacock exclusive.

* ESPN does not have a late evening window.  They have a Top Rank boxing card instead.  They do have a weeknight Pac-12 game also (Stanford at Colorado).

* CBSSN has a 12 day selection for the MAC.

* I deleted one SECN window since there's only six games for the conference this week and CBS has an extra game compared to most other weeks

* ACCN only has two windows scheduled, 3:30pm & 8pm.

* For selection order purposes, I gave FOX Sports the top Big Ten and Big 12 choices.  It was revealed by Jon Wilner of Bay Area News Group that ESPN has the top Pac-12 choice.
