CFB TV Guesses for 2024 Week 5 (9/28/24)

Here are the games already set for television and/or webcast. Here are the known available telecast windows.

I have done my best to list what TV windows are out there. Every listing service has a little different schedule for these networks. It is also possible that a window could be eliminated or the time of a window could shift slightly to accommodate a network's needs.

Instead of cluttering up these posts even more, I'll try to keep track of the unique conference TV arrangements in a separate post.

A few notes and considerations:
  • Games already set for time or TV network family, but not both:
    • Kentucky at Ole Miss (ABC or ESPN, 12pm)
    • Washington State at Boise State (FOX Sports, TBA)
    • Nebraska at Purdue (TBA, 12pm)
    • Illinois at Penn State (TBA, 3:30pm/4pm or 7:30pm)
    • North Carolina Central vs. Norfolk State (ESPN Networks, 3pm)
  • SEC game slotting is as follows:
    • Noon for ABC or ESPN: Kentucky at Ole Miss
    • Afternoon or evening:
      • Oklahoma at Auburn
      • Mississippi State at Texas
      • Arkansas vs. Texas A&M
* ABC has already set their primetime game with Georgia at Alabama.  In addition to that, SEC Network already has its evening window set and will not have a early game.
* FOX is scheduled to have a late evening game, presumably for the Big Ten.
* CBSSN will have a MAC selection.
* The Peacock app appears to show two separate Big Ten exclusives.  One at 12pm and one at 7pm ET.  This is in addition to NBC's 7:30pm window.
* BTN appears to only have a 12pm window.
* FS1 has a 9:45pm window which strongly indicates where Washington State at Boise State will be placed.
* CBS affiliates were made aware that their Big Ten 3:30pm window could switch to 12pm depending on a six day hold used by another network. I assume that network is FOX the two networks would swap.
* NBC let the cat our of the bag in a now removed portion of their weekly press release that they would be carrying Nebraska at Purdue.
* I think there's a chance that a Big 12 six day hold will be used between some combination of Colorado at UCF, Oklahoma State at Kansas State & Arizona at Utah.  I have ABC/ESPN making the decision.  Whatever is chosen likely impacts where Kentucky at Ole Miss ends up

Oregon State at Cal is 9/28?

Oklahoma-Auburn must be an "AFTERNOON" game. https://www.secsports.com/fbtv#schedule

Will fix both. Thanks

CBS and FOX can switch Big Ten time slots? That's news to me. It would seem to make more sense to have CBS and NBC to switch time slots to accommodate Notre Dame games on Nov. 9 and Nov. 23. Why would CBS want to give up the 3:30pm slot for a noon game?

Sounds like it from what was sent to their affiliates. Probably not a choice CBS wants to make.

Is Oregon St- Cal projected for ESPN+? Looks like it wasn't added to the revised guesses.

It's not this week. I had it on my site for 9/28 but it is on 10/26

Regarding the six-day holds, does it matter that Arizona at Utah is a homecoming game? I remember the Pac-12 requiring homecoming games to be chosen 12 days in advance. Is that the same rule in the Big 12 and other conferences?

Matt Sarzyniak said...

I don't know if the same rule exists in the Big 12.

Does ESPN select ACC games first, then what’s left over goes to ACC Network

ESPN tends to place the better games on ABC/ESPN/ESPN2, and the CW takes their game at some point alongside ACCN, but I didn't think there's a strict selection order to be maintained.
