CFB TV Guesses for 2023 Week 10 (10/31/23-11/4/23)

Here are the games already set for television and/or webcast. Here are the known available telecast windows.

I have done my best to list what TV windows are out there. Every listing service has a little different schedule for these networks. It is also possible that a window could be eliminated or the time of a window could shift slightly to accommodate a network's needs.

Instead of cluttering up these posts even more, I'll try to keep track of the unique conference TV arrangements in a separate post.

A few notes and considerations:

* Games already set for time or TV:
  • Utah State at San Diego State (FOX Sports)
  • Notre Dame at Clemson (ABC)
* CBS has a noon Big Ten selection along with their primetime SEC doubleheader.  CBS gets the top two SEC choices for the week.  Both SEC windows for CBS are exclusive, meaning that all SEC games on ESPN/2/U must air at 12pm.
* At the moment, I'm assuming CBS is not using a 6th appearance exception for Georgia.  If they want to air the Georgia-Tennessee game on 11/18 or Ole Miss-Georgia on 11/11, they'll need to use one of their exceptions to air six games from a school.  My understanding is they have four of the six appearance exceptions to use for the 15 year contract.  By my count, they've used the exception once in the previous 14 seasons (2009 Florida) so it should be available to use again.
* In terms of top selections for conferences who split their rights between multiple networks, I gave CBS top Big Ten choice along with their weekly top choice in the SEC. Top Pac-12 choice went to ABC/ESPN and top Big 12 choice went to FOX.
* FOX Sports' primetime choices may end up being able to be elevated from their pay TV platforms up one level depending on the need for Game 7 of the World Series.  I have set it up that way.  Same with the FS2 window at for 7pm ET.  I'm assuming it could be on FS1 or FS2 and moved it to 8pm.  FS1 may schedule a late evening window, but I'm assuming that it won't exist due to the flexibility needed.
* The MEAC has the possibility of a ESPNU game at either 12pm or 3:30pm ET.

Is the Big Ten BTN conference game rule still in effect? If so, you're probably better off having Penn State-Maryland on BTN or you have to put both Minnesota-Ohio State and Rutgers-Penn State on BTN on Nov. 18 leaving FOX and NBC to fight over Michigan-Maryland.

It's still in effect

Penn State already met it's BTN requirements. Northwestern and UMass games aired there

One thing we will see on Monday is if the last Bedlam is worth it in itself for Fox to snatch it up or use a 6 day hold. Depending on Saturday’s results UT KSU could nudge it out

Forgot about PSU/NW. Thanks for pointing that out Matt.

Hopefully the Gophers game is on ESPN ESPN2 ESPNU or ABC or Fox or Fs one NBC peacock or CBS

It won't be any of the first four you listed because ABC/ESPN doesn't have rights to games hosted by Big Ten schools.

Any of the last four i listed have a chance of doing the Fighting Illini Gophers game On November 4th Matt?

Answered on X since you asked there too.

Is Mizzou @ Georgia really the preferable game over Georgia @ Tennessee or Ole Miss @ Georgia for the fifth Bulldogs game? Or is it down to the lack of other worthwhile SEC games on 11/4?

It's a bit of both when it comes to Georgia. They could go with A&M-Ole Miss at 3:30 if they want to punt the Georgia decision down a week. Or use a six day hold.

You now understand the OU problem! With strained relations and the fact that FOX will no longer have the rights to OU games after this season, OU is saddled with almost entirely 11:00 am games.

OU was on ABC at 11am this past Saturday. 🤔

OU isn't "saddled with almost entirely 11:00 am games" because of "strained relations" or FOX not having rights to their games next season. Three of OU's 11:00am kickoffs are on ESPN/ABC, who certainly don't have "strained relations" with OU and will own 100% of the rights to OU games next year. The other two are on Big Noon, which is where FOX puts its best game of the day. If you are #6 in the nation, and FOX owns all or part of your rights, you are going to have a few 11:00 kickoffs. Teams from the south generally don't like that, but that's what FOX has decided to do (and seems to have worked out well for them overall based on the Big Noon ratings).

Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan have five noon kickoffs between them, with several more coming, and they don't have any "strained relations".
