CFB TV Guesses for 2018 Week Eight (10/20/18)

Here are the games already set for television and/or webcast.  Here are the known available telecast windows.

* FOX Sports selected Michigan at Michigan St. in advance of the season & ESPN selected Penn St. at Indiana in advance too.
* Assuming Michigan at Michigan St. was the top Big Ten choice, I slotted the top Big 12 choice to ESPN (Oklahoma at TCU) and the top Pac-12 choice to FOX (Colorado at Washington).
* So I've slotted Michigan at Michigan St. on FS1 under the assumption of NLCS Game Seven being required.  They can't leave it until the last second, but they'll know the results of the first two games of the series.  I could see see the game moving up to FOX and swapping places with Colorado at Washington.  That's also why USC at Utah could be the sacrificial lamb FOX game if there's a NLCS Game Seven (ie. don't compete with yourself).
* An alternate strategy on that: ESPN takes no Big 12 games (already has selected 16 of 23 Big 12 games this season) & has the top Pac-12 choice, choosing Colorado at Washington at 3:30pm.  No Big 12 six day holds have been used yet, so FOX can keep Michigan at Michigan St. at 3:30pm, move USC at Utah to 3:30pm, then slot the Big 12 games appropriately on a six day hold
* ABC's primetime window is scheduled for 7:30pm ET, which often indicates a Big Ten game.
* Three other Big Ten games are scheduled for noon ET as homecoming games: Illinois at Wisconsin, Northwestern at Rutgers & Maryland at Iowa.
* The late evening ESPN window is not being used.  They have a NBA game scheduled: Rockets at Lakers (Lebron James' 1st Lakers home game).
* ESPNU's late window has been marked for a tape delayed airing of a SWAC game.
* ESPNEWS has no windows scheduled due to live practice & qualifying coverage of the Formula 1 US Grand Prix.
* The sole CBSSN opening is for the American Athletic Conference.

This is tough with a Game 7 of the NLCS on FS1. You could say USC at Utah will be a big game if USC beats Colorado. Wouldn't USC on Fox and the Dodgers on FS1 compete with other.

Maybe. My original plan for that selection was Cal-Oregon St. Also have LeBron's first Lakers home game that night. That would conflict in the late innings too.

Matt, you have Cincinnati playing Tulane, they're playing Temple.

Unbeaten Clemson vs unbeaten NCST at 12 instead of a night game? Probably a more competitive game than Ohio St/Purdue as well.

Even if a NBA game was scheduled, could ESPN pick up USC-Utah? or even make the USC at Utah game a lead-in for the Rockets at Lakers (Lebron James' 1st Lakers home game).

At an earlier time they could Daniel, but if its 7pm ET as you mentioned, where do you put the SEC games at 7pm and the other games you'd have to move around? As you know, its more than just picking up a game. There's a residual effect.

Besides that, at the moment, both Mississippi St & LSU are ranked in the AP Poll, as is Auburn. Neither Utah or USC are, with only Utah receiving votes (5). If you go by the coaches poll, Mississippi St. isn't ranked, but are 28th in terms of votes received.

I should also mention that ESPN's NBA telecast is not exclusive. Spectrum SportsNet in LA and AT&T SportsNet in Houston is carrying the game.

Yeah. that's why i'd keep the USC game on Fox. If there wasn't an NBA game that night on the mothership, maybe, but with the NBA factor, i'd keep the SEC games where they are.

Seems like 6 day holds could be used tomorrow in the Pac 12

So, WSU will get stuck in the time-slot ghetto (7:30 PDT) or the Pac-12 Network ghetto.

what is on CBS SN in the noon and 330 windows?
