CFB TV Guesses for 2022 Week 8 (10/22/22)

Here are the games already set for television and/or webcast. Here are the known available telecast windows.

I have done my best to list what TV windows are out there. Every listing service has a little different schedule for these networks. It is also possible that a window could be eliminated or the time of a window could shift slightly to accommodate a network's needs.

Instead of cluttering up these posts even more, I'll try to keep track of the unique conference TV arrangements in a separate post.

A few notes and considerations:

Games already selected for time or TV, but not both
Frenso State at New Mexico (FOX Sports, Time TBD)
Utah State at Wyoming (FOX Sports, Time TBD)
Indiana at Rutgers (TV TBD, 12pm ET)
Northwestern at Maryland (TV TBD, 3:30pm ET)
Purdue at Wisconsin (TV TBD, 3:30pm ET)
Minnesota at Penn State (TV TBD, 7:30pm ET)
Houston at Navy (ABC, ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU, 12pm ET)

* I could see another Pat McAfee telecast on ESPN2 at 7pm with the Montana at Sacramento State game on ESPN2 not starting until 11pm ET.  Plenty of time to use the ABC game in that case.  I'm going to delete it for now.
* FS1 listings have three TV windows, but FOX affiliates have been told that the NLCS game on this date (Game 4, so it will happen) will be simulcast on FS1.  This is also a date when both the ALCS and NLCS would be played, so the feeling that I get is that one FS1 window is guaranteed, either early in the afternoon or later, but not both. Because of that, I think the two Mountain West games will move over to FS2.  If FS1 weren't simulcasting the NLCS, then I'd assume all three windows are planned for.
* The last FS1 window is listed for 9:45pm, which also assures one of the two MW games.  MW games on FOX Sports must start no later than 7:45pm local time.  With both games being in the Mountain time zone, 9:45pm ET it is.
* Last thing on the MW games and if they get scheduled for FS2 instead: they can start the TV windows earlier instead of the 6:30pm and 9:45pm ET start times listed for them on FS1.
* BTN has a volleyball window scheduled for the evening.
* Just two ACCN windows again.  No 12pm ET game is currently listed.
* One Liberty game has to air on ESPN's linear TV networks (ESPN/2/U).  I went with the BYU game over the Virginia Tech game being played later in the year.

Matt, It's Sacramento State!

I could see a 6-day hold being used here for the SEC.

The reasonable options are Ole Miss-LSU and Mississippi State-Alabama. The latter might be a more enticing matchup (since LSU had that bad loss to Tennessee) but it locks Alabama out until the Iron Bowl. Luckily for CBS, there are other good matchups those weeks (Nov. 5 has Tennessee-Georgia and Nov. 12 has Georgia-Mississippi State).

The dilemma with Alabama's appearances is where I can see them foregoing the six day hold in this case and going right to taking Ole Miss-LSU.

It was fun. Bit cool for the weather but the sun finally shone on the first base side seats around the 14th and warmed me up a little.

In regard to the SEC on CBS game on 10/22, I read that Alabama has a maximum limit of 5 appearances per season. If CBS would prefer to have the Iron Bowl on their network, then it would make sense for to forgo the Mississippi State game and take the game against Ole Miss on 11/12 as game 4. More than likely, the Ole Miss game (on the road) will be much more interesting than the Mississippi State (played in Tuscaloosa). If CBS would be willing to forgo the Iron Bowl this year, then they can have both the MS State and Ole Miss games on their network.

I noticed for October 29, Colorado vs asu is going to be on an ESPN station tbd. Why? I assume this likely pushes usc and Oregon games onto pac 12 networks that day?

Where did you see this?

https://cubuffs.com/sports/football/schedule?path=football Seems like a bad game to put on ESPN networks for October 29. Thoughts on potential impact to rest of pac 12 slate?

Ok, I see both schools and the Pac-12 are reporting this on their sites. I'm not certain that it's accurate. I'll ask around.

To be honest, otherwise, I'm not think about 10/29 yet. Will next weekend.

One followup on 10/29 and ASU-CU

1) Yes its on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU. I asked the Pac-12, they said it is and it was an early season selection, though I can't find evidence of that on the early season release.

2) The other games you mentioned aren't guaranteed to be on Pac-12 Networks. It isn't known how many TV windows FS1 and Pac-12 Networks will have that day.
